Nuclear Free WA is a not for profit environment organisation working with first nations communities, health, union, faith and other environment organisation to advocate for the protection of our environment, communities and workers from the threat of the nuclear industry. Having fought off uranium mines, nuclear waste facilities and nuclear power we are bracing for renewed push for nuclear power and the threat of nuclear submarines.
In WA there is the ongoing push to establish uranium mines, and from companies like Azark and ARIUS who want WA to store high level international nuclear waste here. The Federal opposition are actively pushing nuclear power for Australia, there are plans for US nuclear submarines to be posted off the WA coast from 2023 and Australia is yet to fulfill the promise of signing the Treaty to Prohibit Nuclear Weapons.
Nuclear Free WA brings together all these nuclear issues under one umbrella, to track, monitor and respond to the nuclear threats in our state.
